FKA Twigs wins first stage of trademark infringement against The Twigs

FKA Twigs has taken home a win.

Back in the day, FKA Twigs was just Twigs.

Then, she decided to add FKA (Formerly Known As) to her stage name after a trademark dispute with indie duo The Twigs, cropped up.

This was all the way in 2013, but even now, it’s still going.

The Twigs are looking for some compensation for the similarities in their names and any potential confusion it may cause.

FKA Twigs filed a lawsuit against them, claiming they were attempting to “weaponise” claims without support to get money from her.

The Twigs, real names Laura Good and Linda Good, filed a counterclaim, alleging that FKA was using her fame to “destroy” their trademark.

Clearly, the issue is getting a bit tiring for FKA Twigs, but luckily for her, she’s just scored a win in the first stage of the trademark infringement case.

The win has ruled that FKA Twigs cannot be sued for infringing on The Twigs’ trademark.

The infringement claims were found to be too outdated, after The Twigs left their claims for at least a decade.

But, there are remaining accusations from FKA that The Twigs pressured her to change her name, that have yet to be resolved.

So, it seems this will be going on a little bit longer, with more to come.
