Phoebe Bridgers may have appendicitis, but that won’t stop her from performing a fantastic Nirvana cover.
Phoebe Bridgers had to postpone her intimate run of UK album release shows yesterday.
Via Instagram, she shared “I got appendicitis for my birthday everything in the UK this week will have to move”.
Not the best gift if you ask me.
But Bridgers also promised that she’d make it up to the fans who were going to now be missing out on these very special shows.
For now, that has come in the form of a live recording on BBC’s Live Lounge, including a Nirvana cover and a couple of tracks from Lost Weekend.
She performed two Lost Weekend standouts, ‘Bobby’ and ‘Lost Boys’.
‘Bobby’ has quickly become a favourite among fans, so it’s very exciting to finally have a live recording of the track, considering we’ve only ever heard it performed at Bridgers’ strictly no phones shows.
The cover of ‘Lithium’, from Nirvana’s Nevermind, suits Bridgers perfectly.
It’s also not the first time Bridgers has embodied Kurt, famously also recreating Nirvana’s Rolling Stone cover for the Boygenius comeback a couple years ago.
Check it out here.
