Soundscape Studio is the project of a graphic designer based in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The designer creates stunning and unique visual representations of all your favourite songs.
Each colour on the prints represent a different note, and lighter colours denote higher pitches, and the colours change as the pitch modulates.
This Arkansas-based graphic designer uses different sized shapes and colours to create incredible visual representations of all your favourite songs.
“The rhythm is shown through the length of each shape. A whole note is an inch long and each subsequent note is a fraction equal to the mathematical time of its’ rhythmic value,” the artists explains.
“The top line of each couplet represents the melody, and the bottom line represents the chords in the bass line.”
Included in the series are such songs as Nirvana’s Lithium, Bon Iver’s Skinny Love, Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah, Radiohead’s Paranoid Android, and a whole heap of others.
If your favourite song is not already listed, you can contact the artist and have your own custom design whipped up.
“What started as a one-off print project to help my wife understand music structure turned into a complete fascination with experimental music notation.”
