“Roll for initiative suckers!”: ‘Borderlands 2’ Tiny Tina DLC re-released as a one-shot

The Dungeons & Dragons-inspired Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep DLC from Borderlands 2 is being released a standalone one-shot.

Way back in 2013, Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep was released and we were all hooked. Borderlands’ very own version of Dungeons & Dragons, “Bunkers and Badasses”, shot its way to beloved status pretty quickly. So when the 2021 Summer Games Fest announced its spin-off, Tiny Tina‘s Wonderlands, fans like myself were ecstatic.

But as of today, I can pretty safely say that we’re all going to be reliving those glorious days of adventure with our Dungeon – I mean Bunker – Master, Tina. 2K and Gearbox have decided to re-release the DLC, but this time as a standalone game for all of us to enjoy.

The standalone will include not only all of the original content, but some slick new cosmetics that look like they fit right in with the game’s D&D themes. Throw in some new loot chests and “more” (whatever that’ll be), and you’ve absolutely got my attention.

Not only do we get to relive the hilarity of having Tina as a Bunker Master, but now we have the chance to share that with our buddies. Yes, the co-op feature isn’t new. But for those who haven’t played Borderlands before, this is a great way to introduce someone to the series itself.

During a press release, Executive Producer Randy Pitchford mentioned how excited he was that “a new generation of players, and… long-time fans” could now enjoy “the magic that inspired Wonderlands”. One can only hope that with the new additions to this re-release, we see a glimpse of the fun times to come from Wonderlands.

He went on to say that “Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon’s Keep is one of the most important pieces of content Gearbox has ever imagined”. Beyond just padding game content, the DLC managed to “introduce an entirely new genre into the… Borderlands series”.

It opened up huge possibilities for the franchise, and I’m super ready to see what they’re coming up with.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is available for pre-order now and launches March 25 2022. It’ll be available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PC through the Epic Games Store at launch. Other PC platforms will be able to sell it later in 2022.

In the meantime, Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep: A Wonderlands One-Shot Adventure is available now for $14.95 AUD on console digital stores, and Steam. But it’s absolutely free on the Epic Games Store until November 16th 2021.

So snap it up while you can and “roll for initiative suckers!”
