Turns out Michael Nesmith from The Monkees really loves vaporwave

I never really got vaporwave. In fact, I still don’t really understand what it is. But it turns out that The Monkees‘ Michael Nesmith really loves the stuff.

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, the legendary musician explained his love of the sub-genre/culture… even saying “it’s the most psychedelic stuff I’ve heard ever since psychedelics.”

It’s the most psychedelic stuff I’ve heard ever since psychedelics“: The Monkees’ Michael Nesmith explains his deep love of vaporwave.

In the interview, he named multiple albums and remixes as his favourites, including Macintosh Plus’ album Floral Shoppe.

You’ve got to put in ‘vaporwave’ on YouTube and follow it down. It’s an endless cavern of inter-connected convolutions,” he says.

I tell everybody I meet about it. Once you open it up, it’s like cracking an egg. It goes all over the place.”

I’m not sure why this interview ever took place, but if you want to read the full thing, check it out here.
