A new documentary about Kurt Vile and Courtney Barnett‘s adorable friendship and powerful creative relationship has just been released.
Watch a new documentary about Kurt Vile and Courtney Barnett, Friends of Wonder, shot in the beautiful Loew’s Jersey Theatre.
Titled Friends of Wonder, the film centres around a show the duo played at Loew’s Jersey Theatre in New Jersey, USA, interspersed with interviews with Kurt and Courtney, and the story of the venue itself, which is a historic theatre that was saved from being demolished by a group of local activists in the 1980s.
Produced by WeTranfer and Matador Records, the 30-minute documentary was directed and edited by filmmaker duo Kurt Vincent and Irene Chin.
“While editing the movie Irene and I would constantly look at each other and smile,” said Vincent in a statement. “We were editing scenes with two of our favourite musicians performing in a magical setting. We dreamed up this crazy movie about a mysterious movie palace and this concert—and the film turned out exactly how we imagined it. That’s not always how it works out.”
