Wilderness Shout’s new video for Monster will tear your psyche apart

If you’re not currently listening to Wilderness Shout, you definitely should be. Since forming a couple of years ago as a two-man/one-laptop project, the band have expanded both their lineup and their sound to create something truly special.

With their unique concoction of cinematic sounds, the quartet belt out a searing brand of pop that will consume you wholly. Now, the band have unveiled their new single Monster, and it’s expectedly great.

With the release of their new single Monster, Sydney four-piece Wilderness Shout explore toxic relationships with a pulsating and experimental brand of pop music.

The new single sees Wilderness Shout weave together elements of pop, rock, soul and electronica to craft a sound that belongs entirely to themselves. It’s the kind of music that creeps beneath your skin and stays there for weeks – simultaneously unnerving and infectious.

Made up of synthesist and vocalist Lija Moore, guitarist and synthesist John Lawrie, bassist Doug Lawrie, and drummer Lewis New, the band meld soaring vocal melodies with pulsating electronic production.

Monster is the perfect showcase of the group’s songwriting abilities. Over the course of its three-minute duration, the track pulls in a myriad of directions, never sitting in one place for too long. The result is an absolutely captivating listening experience.

These are still early days for Wilderness Shout, but judging by the quality of we’ve seen and heard so far, I think we can safely expect plenty more quality material from this Sydney band.
