Known best for her roles in Xmen and The Batman, Zoë Kravitz, 33 has now set her sights on something bigger.
Zoë Kravitz is making her mark with her first directorial debut ‘Pussy Island’. A film she says was born out of anger and frustration. Tired of the old tropes of hedonistic free for all’s for men, she is making a film that she wants to see, not what men want to see.
Discussing the project with WSJ this week, Kravitz shared she was more than ready to write her own script, and direct her first feature film.
Kravitz explains that the story “was born out of a lot of anger and frustration around the lack of conversation about the treatment of women, specifically in industries that have a lot of money in them, like Hollywood, the tech world, all of that,”
Kravitz said she’s heard stories about powerful men inviting women to remote islands for hazy hedonist free-for-alls. Causing her to ask, what is the version that I would like to see, that was when she started writing.
Kravitz has co-written the script with E.T. Feigenbaum, who wrote the High Fidelity TV series, in which Kravitz also starred in.
The provocatively titled film ‘Pussy Island’ will begin shooting as soon as next week, and is set to star Naomi Ackie and Channing Tatum 44.
Channing and Kravitz have allegedly been dating for just over a year. A source close to the couple has shared they are “very happy”.
“They are very happy. Their careers are a big focus and they share this passion. When they are off, they are very low-key. They enjoy quiet date nights with friends but most often just hang out at home.”
“Channing is serious about Zoë. It’s not a casual relationship,” added the source. “They have been exclusive for a long time.”
Pussy Island is expected to be released in 2023.
