Chatting about the EP, 33 Below shares, “With ‘PUSHER,’ I tried to make a collection of sounds taking in influences from the different countries the tracks were created in.” The result is a project that reflects collaborations across LA, London, and New Zealand, embodying a commitment to pushing creative boundaries in both songwriting and production.
‘PUSHER’ captures 33 Below’s signature sound while exploring novel soundscapes. Opening with the already acclaimed ‘PROTECTA,’ the EP seamlessly blends vocals and instrumentals.
‘LIVE IT UP’ showcases his adept sound design, evolving into a dynamic bassline drop. The collaboration with UK artist DRIIA on ‘LOYAL’ introduces a compelling interplay of vocals and dynamic drops.
‘JUMPER’ elevates the tempo with glitch-laden synths, leading into ‘HOLD TIGHT,’ featuring Chrystel, a GRAMMY-nominated singer-songwriter known for her work on Dreamville’s ‘Revenge of the Dreamers.’ ‘BLINDED’ takes a departure into house elements, concluding with a four-to-the-floor beat.
Hailing from a small New Zealand town, 33 Below, also known as Jack Laven, turned to music for self-expression. From Drum and Bass to House and UK Garage, his evolution is evident in ‘PUSHER.’ Notable 2023 releases, including a remix of Odd Mob’s ‘LEFT TO RIGHT,’ garnered attention from industry heavyweights like Disclosure and DJ EZ.
