9 essential tour bus tunes with Winterbourne

Central coast duo Winterbourne have just wrapped up the tour of their young career, playing almost 20 shows over two months supporting fellow rockers The Rubens around the country. Two months in a tour bus meant a shit load of free time that generally needed to be filled – that is of course if the long time mates didn’t want to find themselves in falling down a spiral of madness, or worse, killing each other.

Listening to music is undeniably the world’s most potent time killer – probably why we love / need it so much – so the Winterbourne boys doubtlessly churned through a couple of LPs during their time on the road. We asked them to put together a playlist of tour bus faves so that you can have a listen and find out which exact tunes stopped James and Jordan from bludgeoning each other with their guitars. Enjoy.

If you plan on hitting the road any time soon you can ward off impending insanity with these 9 essential tourbus tracks courtesy of Winterbourne.

Don’t Wanna Fight – Alabama Shakes

“This is a great song to play very very loudly. The guitar lines are just so cool and the song makes us wind the windows down and gaze into the distance feeling good about ourselves.”

Love Divine – Saskwatch

“We’re touring with these guys at the moment and this is one of our favourites to hear live. They’ve got such cool energy, we can’t help but stand and stare, it’s hypnotic and fun all at the same time.”

Cut Me Loose – The Rubens

“This is by far and away the highlight of The Rubens’ live show. You just never know what you’re gonna get, and the song is just straight up rock and roll.”

Vegas Two Times – Stereophonics

“The ultimate driving song, and one of our favourite songs of all time. At least once on every trip we’ll put this on loud and play air drums very enthusiastically.”

Forever Ago – Woodlock

“We’ve known the Woodlock boys for a few years and they always pump out great tracks – Forever Ago is one of them. It usually features in a period towards the end of the road trip in which we play songs that make us cry. Don’t ask why we do this, I’m not sure myself.”

Bugs – Patrick James

“We can never stop singing this song. It is just the best song.”

Soft Offering (For The Oft Suffering) – Hey Rosetta!

“This is one of our favourite bands. Soft Offering is a great song, but any song by these guys really gets us going. We’ll never finish a road trip without playing at least one Hey Rosetta album.”

Can We Work It Out – Gordi

“We love all of Gordi’s stuff, her songwriting is incredible and she really gets us singing. In fact we can’t help ourselves, once we hear this song it’s the only song we’ll hear all day.”

Counting Sheep – SAFIA

“Because every road trip gets to the point where we just need some sick beats. This song provides the sickest of beats, and makes sure no one falls asleep.”
