What has former Korg engineer Tatsuya Takahashi has been up to? Building a 100-synth orchestra, of course

Not too long ago, Tatsuya Takahashi stepped down as Korg’s chief engineer. As the man responsible for bringing the Monotron and the Volca series into the world (not to mention the very schmick MS-20 and ARP reissues), it was sad to see him go indeed.

You do wonder where a youngster with his cred would go, and today it looks like we have the answer. It seems Takahashi has been hanging with the Red Bull Music Academy, specifically with artist Ryoji Ikeda, creating a one-of-a-kind synth installation.

Been missing former Korg chief engineer Tatsuya Takahashi? He’s been holed up with Red Bull Music Academy, where it certainly seems his skills are being put to use.

As part of Red Bull Music Academy Festival Los Angeles, Ikeda’s installation A [for 100 cars] will bring 100 automobile owners together into what will become the world’s largest synthesiser orchestra.

Check below for a few photos of the work in progress.
