Neil Young and Crazy Horse are lining up to record another album in the near future. Nils Lofgren will be replacing Frank “Poncho” Sampedro on guitar as they hit the studio with 11 new songs.
This will be the group’s first album since 2012’s Psychedelic Pill.
Still cutting through and still blowing minds, Neil Young and Crazy Horse are keeping busy as ever with a new album to be recorded.
Neil Young has recently spoken out, in response to a fan’s letter, that “Crazy Horse is about to enter the studio with 11 new ones.” Never one to sit idle, Young recently revived Crazy Horse for a series of intimate theatre gigs in California last year. They were the first performances without Sampedro since he joined the band in 1975.
In an interview with Uncut, Sampedro recently spoke out on the matter, “I’m 70 and I’m retired now and want to stay home. People say, ‘Isn’t it sad you’re not in Crazy Horse?’ I don’t think of it that way. I’ll always be in Crazy Horse.”

As of yet, Young hasn’t dropped an exact date for the making of the album, though Lofgren is launching a US tour in early May that will keep him on the road for a month.
Young also has his own tour in May that will see him play theatres in the Pacific Northwest. Young then heads to Europe in late June where he’ll play more shows with Promise of the Real, including gigs in London and Kilkenny, Ireland where they are sharing the bill with Bob Dylan.
