Exciting news for Radiohead and classical music fans alike, Thom Yorke has premiered two new compositions on a Sunday episode of BBC Radio 3’s ‘Unclassified’.
Yorke’s incredible piece Don’t Fear the Light and Gawpers premiered last month as part of a Paris performance called Minimalist Dream House.”
Unclassified boasts an exclusive first play of Thom Yorke’s first ever classical composition, a three-part work for two pianos, electronics and modular synthesisers.
“Katie and Marielle suggested for a few years that I write some music for them,” said Yorke about Don’t Fear The Light.
“Usually, I would laugh and say I couldn’t read music, but in truth, I was intrigued by the idea. I realized that writing for score, or over a sequencer or modular gear, are really not so far apart. But the best part was watching what I had written being brought to life by the sisters and their interpretation.”
The show also includes the premiere of Yorke’s new solo piece Gawpers. This incredible track sees Yorke sing with accompaniment from a droning synth and the Labeque sisters’ pianos.
The concert also includes the Thom Yorke performance of Suspirium from the film score for Luca Guadagnino’s remake of the cult horror Suspiria.
