Prince was definitely not a fan of Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran

Newly discovered letters from the late pop icon Prince reveal that he had some things to say about contemporary pop music, and they were definitely not words of praise.

The letter is just one of an expansive collection of Prince writings discovered in his home estate at Paisley Park which was recently searched for valuable memorabilia.

In the more recent of his extensive archive of letters, Prince hit out at the music industry at large for being guilty of “ramming the songs of Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran down our throats”. It’s clear that Prince was not one to easily change his mind, as the letter goes on to say that “we don’t like it no matter how much you play their music”.

Prince’s private notes and letters were closely inspected in an effort to gather and sort supporting documentation for the posthumous release of his personal memoir.

The memoirs are now available, after being arranged and edited by Prince superfan Dan Piepenbring who had been put to the task before the pop icons sudden death in April 2016. According to Piepenbring, the memoir feature letters spanning back as early as 1979 and include heaps of early songwriting notes on some of his most influential tracks, including an acoustic version of I Feel For You.
