A brand new, high-tech vinyl pressing plant called Program Records is set to open in Melbourne in early 2018.
Program Records will join a select few that are holding the torch for vinyl manufacturing in Australia, like the legends over Zenith Records. Program Records will open for business in early 2018 and will be making the most of state of the art WarmTone presses, which are made by the Toronto-based company Viryl Technologies.
These machines are absolute beasts – you can read more about them here.
Program will initially offer 12” records in either 140gm or 180gm with plans to introduce 7” and 10” formats towards the end of 2018. They will also be cutting and lathing on site and will offer custom colour vinyl options. Mmmm yeah.
Program Records’ Steve Lynch has said in a press release: “Australia has a great music scene that deserves to have affordable, good quality vinyl made here on time.”
