Ali Barter has announced she will be partnering with social enterprise, Gift Box, to help provide tampons to women in need.

There are an estimated 46,000 homeless women in Australia who each month struggle to gain access to basic sanitary care.

To help spearhead the issue, Barter has teamed up with Gift Box, the world’s first one-for-one organic tampon brand aimed at providing an immediate solution.

“We all get our damn periods,” says Barter, “so I love that if I buy a box of tampons from Gift Box Organic, it means someone more in need than me gets one too. It’s important that all women have access to sanitary care, and tampons are, for many, non-negotiable.”

“The mission of Gift Box has really been driven by a sisterhood of ‘women supporting women’, so to join forces with Ali Barter’s powerful voice has been very exciting,” explains Saskia Hamplele who founded Gift Box and the ‘Help A Sister Out’ initiative.

“Ali’s generous contribution will not only provide many more homeless women with tampons, it also adds to the conversation of women’s lack of access to sanitary products and will help reach a wider audience for this commonly overlooked issue.”

As a part of Ali Barter’s upcoming One Foot In tour, Barter and Hamplele are launching a collaborative tea towel where the proceeds will be funnelled through Gift Box’s ‘Help A Sister Out’ donation option.

The limited run of tea towels are made in Australia, and feature a design from illustrator and tattoo artist Lily Gloria, who was featured in Barter’s A Suitable Girl zine.
