Angus Dawson

Perth producer, engineer and songwriter extraordinaire Angus Dawson teams up with the gorgeous Anna O for Close My Eyes.

Performing a great deal of live shows over the last year has kept Dawson quite busy. In August 2014 he was one of the headline acts to play at Amplifier Bar along side well-known acts like The Aston Shuffle, Sable and Just a Gent. He is currently touring as the supporting act for electronic, alternative and dance artist Andy Bull on his Talk Too Much tour this year so needless to say there is no slowing down in the near future for this talented musician.

His latest track Close My Eyes is a collaboration with Anna O. It is a lot slower then some of his previous work and takes on a really great chill vibe. The beat within the track takes on a rippling sound reminiscent of a water drop that gives a calming atmosphere to the piece and reaffirms the chill vibe you’re left with.

Towards the end of the track echoing vocals are introduced. Providing the track with a textured element the echo also gives way to a greater electronic presence and as a whole fills out the song. This element provides it with weight that turns it from a piece of airy, chilled music to a grounded and developed track that is a perfect showcase of Dawson’s talent.

The vocals within this piece are by far the standout element to Close My Eyes. Anna O provides the track with high-pitched angelic vocals and this juxtaposed to Dawson’s deeper and more rustic vocals. Together they create a smooth yet haunting element to the song that takes Close My Eyes to a level beyond your run of the mill electronic collaborations.

The next venture for Dawson is the Music Matters Live Festival in Singapore where he will be one of the featured artists playing. Over the four day music festival he will be playing multiple shows so if you’re lucky enough to be there definitely go and check Angus Dawson out.
