Arcade Fire hint at possible album drop with six new tracks at a secret Montreal performance

Arcade fire are coming in hotter than ever, with six new tracks on the horizon that were secretly debuted this weekend in Montreal.

It’s rumoured a new album might be on the way for the sweltering hot six-piece, Arcade Fire reportedly hanging a track record for playing secret gigs before an album drop.

The hour-long performance took place on Parthenais Street in Montreal and guests were not permitted to take their phones in, being told to leave them with the doorman. This gave the impression to fans a new film clip was being filmed at the gig, with fans posting their theories on the band’s fan site, Arcade Fire Tube.

The six songs featured pop and electronic influences, reportedly sounding somewhat similar to previous two albums, The Suburbs and Reflektor, which was also played for some of the performance.

The band’s drummer Jeremy Gara recently let slip that all of the new songs have “been recorded” and starting in April, he had “band commitments”.

According to Gara they’ve recorded more than they need and are in the process of mixing, so one can only sit tight and have faith the fifth full-length album will be released this year.

Arcade Fire kick off their European tour in Barcelona on June 3.
