Tame Impala have re-invented the psychedelic wheel. Every so often an artist comes into a sound-world so wholly unique they electrify a genre and kickstart a legion of mimic bands. Australia's Kevin Parker is one such individual. From his highly acclaimed 2010 debut album, Innerspeaker to the synth kaleidoscope of Currents, Tame Impala slurs the experiences of walking through a flutter of butterflies to charging down the barrel of an acid trip.
Their three studio albums and one live album were all written, recorded and mixed entirely by Kevin Parker earning him an ARIA Award for Producer Of The Year in 2015. Their rise to international prominence was recently cemented with a transcendental 2019 Glastonbury set, wherein Parker was joined by Jay Watson, Dominic Simper, Cam Avery, and Julien Barbagallo, for an all-out audio-visual onslaught. Tame Impala have dropped two new singles from their elusive fourth album, Patience and Borderline, which hint at the groove-driven future of the outfit.
Tame Impala has released four critically-acclaimed albums in the last decade. Innerspeaker cemented the band's place in the consciousness of the Australian public, while Lonerism set the project on a course to international stardom.
2015's Currents was another breakthrough, a riff-laden psych-pop epic that continued the band's dominance on the international stage. Parker continued to follow his electronic instincts on 2020's The Slow Rush.
