Dua Lipa taps Kevin Parker for new single ‘Training Season’

Dua Lipa can’t coach you through dating her on Training Season, the latest taste of the pop star’s hotly anticipated new album.

Dua Lipa has today (February 16) released her new single, Training Season. The track was produced by Kevin Parker of Tame Impala fame, and sees Dua Lipa reflect on “a string of bad dates,” the pop star explained in a press statement.

“[It’s] about that feeling when you are just absolutely done telling people…men specifically in this case, how to date you right.” Training Season follows Houdini as the second single to be lifted from Dua’s upcoming, currently untitled third album.

The latter track was also produced by Parker, who had a broader hand in the songs on the forthcoming, 11-track project, too. “I have never felt more confident, clear or empowered,” Dua said.

Earlier this month, Dua performed a snippet of Training Season as well as Houdini at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards, where she was nominated for both Best Song of the Year and Best Song Written for Visual Media for Dance The Night.

That song, whichfeatured on the soundtrack of Barbie, marked a return to the airwaves for Dua, whose last album arrived in 2020 with Future Nostalgia.

In the time between, Dua appeared on the Calvin Harris song Potion alongside Young Thug, a Pnau remix of Elton John’s Cold Heart, and the Megan Thee Stallion track Sweetest Pie.

Speaking of her follow-up to Future Nostalgia in an interview with T Magazine, Dua said “the album is different; it’s still pop, but it’s different sonically, and there’s more of a lyrical theme.”
