The National are an American rock band who formed in 1999. The band is fronted and founded by baritone vocalist Matt Berninger, and they released their self-titled debut album in 2001 via Brassland records, founded by band members Aaron and Bryce Dessner.
The outfit quit their day jobs and joined Beggars Banquet Records in 2005 for their third album Alligator, which saw widespread critical acclaim. In 2017 The National released their seventh studio album Sleep Well Beast which won a Grammy Award for Best Alternative Album.
Their 2019 record I Am Easy To Find was issued via 4AD further increasing their exposure and critical renown.
