Baby Billie becomes Steelers’ secret weapon in Brazil.
Australian wheelchair rugby star Ella Sabljak has returned to the world stage in São Paulo, defending the Steelers’ World Championship crown just eleven months after giving birth to daughter Billie.
The new mother brings baby Billie into camp, admitting motherhood has sharpened her focus: “Let’s get in, let’s f*** s*** up, and let’s get out of here.”

Sabljak, one of four women in the mixed-gender squad, almost quit the sport postpartum until teammates planted the seed of return.
With captain Chris Bond noting Billie’s presence brings “refreshing” humanity to the team, Australia’s roster now features four female athletes, a third of the squad.
The Steelers, who claimed bronze at the 2024 Paralympics, face five pool matches before knockouts begin Saturday.
Bond believes this is the strongest Steelers side he’s ever been part of, with international competition fiercer than ever.
For Sabljak, every moment away from Billie must now be “worth it.”
