Eric Clapton, Tom Petty and Brian Wilson to feature in new doco documenting LA in the ’60s

Echo In The Canyon is a new documentary paying tribute to a near bygone era featuring Tom Petty, Eric Clapton, Beck, Regina Spector, and countless others.

It focuses on life in Los Angeles’ Laurel Canyon, where an incredible convergence of musical brilliance occurred in the 1960s.

Featuring archival footage of the late Tom Petty, Echo In The Canyon’s new trailer shares incredible stories of some of the world’s most prominent musicians making landmark sounds in the psychedelic ’60s.

The trailer has been released as it looks stunning. As well as Tom Petty, the film features interviews with Beck, Brian Wilson, Eric Clapton, Ringo Starr, David Crosby and many notable others.

The tribute doco paints the near paradise scene of Laurel Canyon for aspiring musicians in the ’60s. A time where “everyone was writing together”, and some of the most influential records in the American canon were produced. It was directed by Andrew Slater and executive-produced by Jakob Dylan.

The documentary premiered at last year’s Lost Angeles Film Festival and will screen at the Los Angeles Cinerama Dome and Landmark on May 24, and at New York’s Angelika Film Center and also Landmark on May 31.

It is set for a widespread national release with a companion album in June.
