Get a first look at Spike Lee’s upcoming war epic Da 5 Bloods starring Chadwick Boseman, due out on Netflix this coming June.

Da 5 Bloods follows the story of four black veterans who return to Vietnam to find the remains of their squad leader (played by Boseman), along with treasure they buried in the jungle. The trailer is soundtracked by the Chamber Brothers’ ’60s classic Time Has Come Today, and also includes archival footage of Vietnam, Kent State protests, and Richard Nixon’s resignation.

Speaking on the period of history on which the film is based, Lee described to Vanity Fair, “The United States Armed Forces came close to being torn apart when black soldiers heard that Dr. King was assassinated. They also heard that their brothers and sisters were tearing shit up in over 100 cities across America. The tipping point came very close; the black soldiers were getting ready to set it off in Vietnam—and not against the Vietcong either.”

This will be Lee’s first film following his Oscar win for 2018’s BlacKkKlansman. Other projects that Lee currently has in the works is a film adaptation of David Byrne’s American Utopia Broadway show, as well as the ’80s hip-hop retelling of Romeo & Juliet, titled Prince of Cats
