As vinyl culture continues to enjoy a new relevance in the 21st century, more and more waxheads are heading down to their local museums. But for someone just dipping their toes into the world of pressed LPs, a map of record stores in your area would be real handy.
Which is exactly what we’ve found today. Vinylhub, the ‘Discogs for Record Shops and Record Events’, has a killer online map. It’s worldwide and completely interactive. You can even Streetview it up if you’re a window shopper. Check it out here.
Looking for a map of record stores in your area? Wherever in the world you may be, Vinylhub has your back with their huge online database.
Aside from the obvious benefit of scanning your locale for record stores, the map actually serves as a nice data tool. Today I learned there are 21 record stores in the greater Sydney area, just three in Canberra and a whopping 53 in Melbourne.
Interestingly enough Perth, which has a population of just 1.7 million as opposed to around 4 mil in Sydney and Melbourne, has 19 record stores (including Fremantle). This puts them just in front of Melbourne in terms of record store density per population.
Again, check out the map for yourself here.
