Gold Coast singer-songwriter Cooperr. releases Like I Do, the second shimmering electro-pop single off her debut EP Running Wild.
Cooperr. has been making music since a young age, having started classical voice lessons and performing at the age of seven, and writing her first song at the age of eight. Despite her classical training, her love for pop is what has driven her to create. With influences such as Ariana Grande and Halsey, Cooperr.’s sound is grounded in pop, but it reaches far wider.
Like I Do is a moody pop banger that sparkles and shines as it spirals through a journey of forbidden love. The song follows a fictional Romeo and Juliet-esque story of a girl who runs away with the love of her life, despite the disapproval of her family. “This track gives me such a thrill,” says Cooperr..
“I love telling a story through my music, and I can so clearly envision a modern-day Romeo and Juliet style couple, (without the tragic ending of course), leaving it all behind to be together without the disapproval of their families. My favourite line that I think really shows the desperation and need to escape is, ‘You take my hand, let me lead you far away from here. Shadows in the night, if we make a sound we won’t get out alive.”
Like I Do is a memorable, vibrant pop tune, with crystal clear vocals, catchy melodies, and dazzling production, it’s deeply infectious and drenched in colour. Cooperr. explores the many facets of her voice, from the whisper-quiet gentle verses to her full-bodied powerful projection in the choruses, evoking the many emotions of the story. Like I Do was recorded and produced by ENIJAE, a dynamic duo located on the Gold Coast in QLD, Australia. Together, the three artists have managed to create a truly special and captivating track.
