Just like James Bond, Daniel Craig has been honoured by the Queen with the Order of St Michael and St George (CMG).
Both Daniel Craig and his fictional character James Bond received this honour from the Queen of England.
Queen Elizabeth awarded the 007 actor as a part of her annual New Year’s Honors and this wasn’t the first time the two met. Lizzy actually joined Daniel Craig for a superbly camp cameo in the 2012 Olympic opening ceremony.
The 53-year-old actor famously hung up his martini and gun last year with his final performance as James Bond in James Bond: No Time To Die.
Craig was deemed a CMG by the Queen for his services to film and theatre as a part of Lizzy’s annual New Year’s honors list.
Funnily enough, the character Jame Bond also holds the awarded status.
Spice Girls’ Mel B and Elton John’s long-term songwriter Bernie Taupin were also among the 2022 honourees.
We’re wondering if Daniel Craig has been playing pretend for a little too long as after portraying the same character in five different movies, over 15 years, it seems he now has a few things in common with 007.
Not only does the movie star have this more recent honour, but he was also bestowed as an Honorary Commander in the Royal Navy, just like Bond.
“I am truly privileged and honored to be appointed the rank of Honorary Commander in the senior service.” Craig said in a statement at the time.
Now that Craig has finished up with this iconic role, maybe he’ll stop trying to follow in Bond’s footsteps. At least that would probably be best for his wife and his own saftey.
