If experimental art and music is your kind of thing then Dark Mofo is the winter festival for you. The Tasmanian festival have announced the first act to play will be the legendary Antony and the Johnsons alongside the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra. It’s bound to be a ghoulishly awesome week of weirdness.
The festival will take place in Hobart between Friday the 12th and Monday the 22nd of June – smack bang in the dark depths of Winter (and trust me, Tassie gets fucking cold). The full program can be expected in the coming days. We can expect some beautifully strange events and performances throughout the 10-day festival with things like the Nude Solstice Swim, the late night ceremonial death dance, massive art installations, films, fire, and some killer live tunes.
If you’re down for getting freaky be sure to get tickets.
Antony and the Johnsons will be playing two shows on Tuesday 16th and Wednesday 17th June, 7.30pm sharp at the Odeon Theatre in Hobart. Get your tickets here and be sure to bring a hanky, or three.
