A copy of Dave Grohl’s ultra-rare 1992 solo album has just sold on eBay

In 1992, just two years after he joined Nirvana, Dave Grohl recorded a solo album called Pocketwatch under the moniker Late!

There was only a handful of copies created of the album, so of course, they’re pretty hard to come by. But today, after being posted last night, a cassette of the album has sold on eBay for $794 AUD.

An ultra-rare cassette copy of Dave Grohl’s 1992 solo record Pocketwatch has just sold on eBay for $794 Aussie dollars.

The ten-track release was originally released through the now-defunct Simple Machines Records, and after Nirvana’s Nevermind was released in 1991, their label requested to release it on CD. The offer was refused.

While you may not be able to get your hands on one of the cassettes right now, you can listen to the entire Pocketwatch album below:

The tape’s eBay page said: Rare cassette (purchased in 1994 via mail-order) of songs that Dave Grohl demoed, some of which would be re-recorded for either Nirvana or the Foo Fighters.
