Dua Lipa & Queen Camilla at the Booker Prize ceremony in London

Dua Lipa met Queen Camilla at London’s Booker Prize ceremony, before delivering a speech on her penchant for literature.

Dua Lipa was appointed to deliver the keynote speech at London’s esteemed Booker Prize ceremony, which took place yesterday (October 17). Prior to the event kicking off, the pop songstress was spotted getting chummy with newly-inducted Queen Camilla, who was there to announce the winner of the top prize.

During her speech, Dua Lipa, who is the founder of weekly arts and culture newsletter, Service95, spoke of her fondness for literature, stating that the “simple pleasure” of reading helped her get through “hectic” moments whilst on tour. She also declared that good writing “has the power to make people feel seen.”

As was announced, the winner of the 2022 Booker Prize is Shehan Karunatilaka, author of the 2020 novel, The Seven Moons Of Maali Almeida. In a review of the book, published via Service95, Dua Lipa shared the following: “I just loved the roguish character of Maali Almeida – war photographer, gambler, and philanderer.”

The singer-songwriter continued, “from the opening scene where Maali wakes up dead, this surrealist story reveals the carnage of Sri Lanka’s civil wars.” Check out Dua Lipa’s reviews of all the shortlisted books via Instagram below.
