Falls Festival announce they’ll be putting on a “home-grown” 2020 edition

As COVID-19 has devastated the planet in more ways than one, it has been hard watching the music industry suffer. And with mixed signals being sent from the government and across various news platforms, it’s hard to tell exactly whether things will go back to normal in 2020.

Yet, in a time when it’s easy to feel downhearted, national treasure Falls Festival has come out with an optimistic message, which is getting festival punters hyped for Summer.

In a letter to fans, Falls Festival announced today that they would continue working towards a December 2020/January 2021 set of dates.

Fall Festival will not only be working towards delivering 2020 dates but has also promised a limited edition, all-Aussie lineup. Not only is this an apparent response to travel restrictions, but it will benefit homegrown artists, pumping money back into the Australian music industry and our local economy.

In addition to the “home-grown” lineup, Falls Festival has also stated that they will be raising funds for Support Act, an incredible not-for-profit which provides much-needed support to those struggling in the music industry in this unprecedented time. In their letter, Falls Festival touched on processes moving forward, as well as their reasoning to announce their plans:

“Health and safety is always our number one priority, so as the recovery process begins and more information becomes available, we will continue working with and taking direction from the health authorities.

But today we’re letting you know that while we’re living in strange times, we’re choosing the bright side. Our team is moving ahead and we hope we’ll be seeing you all in December/January for an all Aussie edition of Falls Festival.”

Whilst there is no guarantee that the festival will go ahead, it sure does feel nice to have something to look forward to.
