Bon Iver announce 10th anniversary reissue of debut studio album For Emma, Forever Ago

To celebrate a decade since its release, Bon Iver are planning a vinyl reissue of their debut studio album For Emma, Forever Ago as well as a one-off performance.

The record was originally released independently on MySpace in July 2007, gaining momentum through buzz and not much else. Soon enough a bidding war had started, with a slew of labels practically begging to sign Justin Vernon.

In February 2008 For Emma, Forever Ago was released worldwide through 4AD and Jagjaguwar.

Bon Iver have unveiled a 10th anniversary reissue of their stunning debut For Emma, Forever Ago, and a one-off concert to match.

On February 17th, Vernon will stage a full performance of the album at the BMO Harris Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. A little far from home for us, so don’t forget to share the news with your American mates.

The reissue will feature new artwork and an in-depth essay by longstanding Bon Iver friend and collaborator Trever Hagen.

For Emma, Forever Ago remains an album of unanimous acclaim. Recorded in Vernon’s home studio with naught but a Mac, Pro Tools, a guitar and some solitude, it was written as he was recovering from mononucleosis, a liver infection, and one particularly bad break up.

The reissue will be available on February 16th through Jagjaguwar.
