Gallery: backstage with Marlin’s Dreaming at Neck of the Woods, Auckland

Two nights ago Dunedin four-piece Marlin’s Dreaming dropped into Neck of the Woods, a venue in Auckland’s CBD. It was to be the last New Zealand show of their current tour, and now the band has Australia in their sights once again.

Photographer Cam Hay, a longtime friend and collaborator of Marlin’s Dreaming, was there to capture some of the action.

Before they kick it over to Australian shores, Cam Hay takes a lens to the backstage lives of Marlin’s Dreaming in Auckland.

Marlin’s Dreaming make surf-tinged guitar rock, well within the mythical ‘Dunedin sound’ but also uniquely their own. 2017 debut album Lizard Tears was an arresting release which felt far beyond their age as a group, both for its sound and its somewhat dark aura. They also dropped into the Live at Enmore studio last time they were in Sydney for a rendition of I’ll Stick By You.

Check out Cam’s photos below, and catch the band for yourself in Australia this week:
