Melbourne MC Illy has just announced he will be taking his new single Swear Jar on tour next February and March.
Joining Illy on the tour will be local hip-hop prodigies Dylan Joel and Citizen Kay, with the exception of the Darwin show.
Following the release of his successful 2013 album Cinematic, Illy has said of new single “Swear Jar is a light hearted take on two very serious issues: that rare breed of dickhead artist who thinks they’re God’s gift to the world, and the far more common breed of dickhead that you find dwelling online, hurling abuse at others. They both suck. I wanted to write a song for them, and here it is. I hope they don’t like it.”
It wouldn’t be much of a swear jar tour if there wasn’t coin going into an empty jam container, and Illy has teamed up with BeyondBlue to do just that. He has invited fans to donate money to his virtual swear jar every time they curse. The proceeds will help the good folk at BeyondBlue help people who are struggling with anxiety, depression, suicide and bullying.
Tickets go on sale from 9am this Friday December 11.
