HAHA Industries follow a classic model that’s hard to argue with – throw rad parties at rad venues and book rad artists. Even if their goal wasn’t to create one of Sydney’s best creative communities, then this formula would have gotten there anyway. Tomorrow night (Saturday 5th April) the crew take over Sydney’s favourite creative space Goodgod Small Club to celebrate their 9th year of operations, bringing out LA/Berlin “hunch” producer Hunee for an intimate all night party.
HAHA presents: Hunee – the funkiest house producer you’ll hear all week.
“Hunch” is defined as an idea or belief based on one’s feelings or suspicions rather than on clear evidence – Hunee’s music takes this concept and makes it concrete. Probably. Listen to one of his mixes over on his Soundcloud, and you’ll get a much better feel for what Hunch music is – lots of oldschool toms, some very European disco/house vibes, some drippy techno sequences and a some dangerously infectious booty-shaking beats. Straddling seminal European label Rush Hour London’s W.T. and Future Times, a Hunee show is something for the electronic music fan who craves something more than your average future garage, pitch shifted vocals or trap beats.
In support is Pete Dot & Matt Trousdale, a pair of locals signed to People Must Jam, who spin some equally funky deep house jams, as well as HAHA’s very own D&D. Tix will set you back $25 and the event kicks off at around 10:30pm, and when the clocks go back at 3:00am (for NSW daylight savings) the bar will remain open for another precious hour of drinking! Not that you’ll be drinking anything but water though, right?
