black midi – Schlagenheim
London post-punk four-piece black midi have released their debut album Schlalgenheim and it’s as weird and wacky as we could’ve hoped for.
The genre-bending outfit explore creepy and melancholic undertones throughout the album, which came about mostly through improvisation and good old jamming sessions. Listen in below.
The Laurels – Sound System
Neo-psychedelic outfit The Laurels have returned with a new single Sound System, a hazy and groovy tune with a driving garage rock sound.
This is their second release since 2016, following on from Monkey On My Back, and we can’t wait to hear more from them.
Two Door Cinema Club – False Alarm
Northern Ireland indie rockers Two Door Cinema Club have released their fourth studio album, a bustling curation of pop, electronic and indie sounds.
With infectious guitar hooks, driving drum patterns and lead singer Alex Trimble’s iconic vocals, the trio have proved once again their unmatched indie flare.
WAAX – I Am
WAAX’s single I Am was released last month, a perpetual head banger with real emotion. Their music video has just been released, a black and white performance piece with explosive energy.
The Brisbane band have also announced their debut album Big Grief, set to be released on the 23rd August. Songwriter and frontwoman Maz DeVita shared:
“The way the world is so volatile at the moment, our environment, I talk about anxiety, mania, cutting ties with old friends and habits, my problems in the past with body image, and it’s almost like a big mourning for all that.”
Cool Sounds – Around And Down
Melbourne indie-pop outfit Cool Sounds have released a new single entitled Around And Down and it’s a bopping, uplifting and cheeky tune.
This is the 7-piece band’s first release of 2019 and it’s as good as we could’ve imagined. We can’t wait to hear more from these guys.
