The Laurels have been one of our favourite acts for years now, a deft cocktail of psych, hip hop, and garage rock. Their 2016 album Sonicology blew us into the stratosphere, and now we couldn’t be happier to be hearing new tunes from their camp for the first time since.
Before they hit up the incredibly well booked Bad Vibrations festival on June 1st, we invited them into the Enmore Audio studio to show off some of the new shiz.
Watch The Laurels descend upon the Enmore Audio studio with their wild new single Monkey On My Back.
Monkey On My Back dropped last month, the band’s first new single since 2016 and the very first taste of their yet-to-be-named third LP. It’s kaleidoscopic, catchy and sprinkled with the usual whacked-out Laurels touch.
“It’s about having a vice”, the band shared – something I’m sure we can all shake hands on. Check out their performance below.
In a matter of weeks The Laurels are set to headline Bad Vibrations fest in Sydney and Melbourne, a pair of one-day festivals from the crew behind Psych Fest. The lineup also includes Straight Arrows, Flyying Colours, and heaps of others. It’s huge.
