Introducing: Teen Sensations

Crack open a Cherry Coke, don your best blue-and-white striped shirt and hit the surf for your old-school 60s Americana beach party. Teen Sensations, a bunch of Brisbane 20-somethings pretending to be teenagers pretending to be The Beach Boys, bring you a tide of neat-o surf pop tunes to fill your summer.

Teen Sensations

Jeremy Neale is unstoppable! His band Teen Sensations do fun surf rock so much justice we may as well call them the Brisbane Beach Boys.

Fronting fellow Brissy band Velociraptor, as well as killing it solo, vocalist and guitarist wunderkind Jeremy Neale decided to make his very own Beach Boys-vibin’ band. Born from his love of the Californian doo-wop rockers, he and his Sensations now bring you their own craft of sweet harmony-infused surf tunes.

Band members Jerry Sensation, Corky Sensation, Georgie Sensation and Your Sensation, debuted their sunny pop single Get Fit For Summer back in 2012. A surf’s up tune about trying to escape their boogie boarding Dean so they can drag race their T-Birds and go steady with their chicks, it bathes you in jangling guitar and sun-kissed harmonies. Bopping ballad Surf and Sway then fills you with the nostalgia of many summers gone by, no doubt at Kodak Beach. Full of layered jazz harmonies, Jeremy’s lovelorn vocals and a brooding melody, it’s pure 60s gold.

Moving into the twilight zone, recently released single Monster Beach Party is a surf rock tune keeping the memory of Bobby “Boris” Pickett alive. In true Monster Mash style, it’s a tale about a loved-up Dracula who throws a party at his Dance Castle of the Night to impress a chick. With a wicked chorus vocal hook and seriously laidback surf beat, not to mention backings from all your favourite ghouls, ghosts, werewolves and vampires, this could just be the modern Halloween classic we’ve all been waiting for.

Having just released their debut 7” through new label Heath Street Wax, these Brisbane Beach Boys are now hitting the East Coast for their Monster Beach Party Single Launch Tour. Sure to be a pretty neat-o affair, I’d crack open that Cherry Coke, throw on your best blue-and-white striped shirt and get ready to surf and sway to their old-school Americana beach party tunes coming to an east coast town near you.
