From the people that brought you the (slightly illegal) Yardfest comes a curated night of delights at Jam Gallery – an unassuming little Bondi Junction venue in between a laundromat and a gymnasium just up the road from the train station. Ominously titled JAWS, the recurring event sets in motion a night of suitably raucous pre-weekend shenanigans, showcasing the best bands and producers that Sydney (and the nation at large) has to offer. Oh, and there’s burgers involved.
Head down to Jam Gallery in Bondi (don’t worry, it’s super easy to get to) this Friday for a Yardfest curated lineup of Richard In Your Mind, Dead Brian and Dead Radio!
Having already lined up Purple Sneakers DJ’s, Furnace & The Fundamentals and The Walking Who, this Friday JAWS will be putting up local psychedelic institution Richard In Your Mind on the stage. The long awaited follow up to 2011’s Sun, Ponderosa has been blowing minds from Springwood to Sutherland and you’d be a fool to miss their string of shows in support of it’s release before they high tail to the hills once more to drop whatever they drop to record another amazing album. You don’t wanna be a fool now do you?
Two suitably psychedelic supports Dead Brian and Dead Radio will be gracing the stage earlier in the evening – the former channeling a bluesy trip-out vibe, while the latter provide krout-tinged sounds to be gazed upon from afar. Despite offering nigh-on identical album artwork and eerily similar nomenclature, the two offer quite different takes on the usual psych scene here in Sydney – equally mind bending and equally awesome. That said, punters should take care not to spend too much time outside suckin’ down ciggies at the risk of getting the two confused as they take the stage.
JAWS seems to understand that nobody wants to have that discussion about the best psychedelic album with the pleb who thinks it’s Sgt. Peppers, and has catered this Friday accordingly. Whatever hazy rabbit hole sounds you’re into exploring, your bros over at JAWS got ya back. Don’t bother reaching for your wallet either, cause entry is totally free. See you there yeah?
