How much do we really know about the artist behind the music we love?

In the vast landscape of the music industry, where dreams collide with self-doubt, an emerging artist’s courage is put to the test to learn how best to nurture their ambitions in the face of so much uncertainty.
Is my writing good enough? Is my voice strong enough? Will they like me? What’s next?
For a long time, I hesitated to share the love I have always held for singing/songwriting. I was unsure I could choose to follow something that, for a long time, felt so far out of reach, because of my way of thinking. I didn’t have a musical background, and I haven’t perfected any instrument, but I knew I had a voice and a lot of thoughts and feelings to express.
So I started to write, and over the years I have never stopped.
Inside I just felt like I could weave words of my own experiences, the pretty, the painful and plentiful, and turn them into a feeling that others could relate to or feel connected to. This flickering ember of passion, along with the abundance of change that came with COVID-19 lockdowns, is what finally ignited my pursuit of musical expression.
In 2020, I discovered The Artist Studio and embarked on Zoom sessions for singing and songwriting. These sessions led to countless hours working in the studio, culminating in my first live performance of original songs and the release of my debut track, “Kissing Mirrors.”
My second and newest song release, “Keep Your Distance,” delves into the internal struggle between restraint and desire, the well-known battle between the head and the heart, without forgetting to make it positively groovy as hell, just to tease your eardrums. This track is just another reference to the intricate dance between life’s crossroads.
Throughout this journey, one of the most significant lessons I have learned is the power of self-belief. In an industry where external validation can be elusive, it is crucial to find solace and strength from inside yourself to keep your creativity going. The moment you give others the power to take away your love for your dreams is the moment you lose sight of them yourself.
For me, the act of songwriting has served as a tool for self-expression and overcoming personal challenges. The creative process has provided me with an avenue to channel my emotions and confront my deepest feelings, ultimately leading to a sense of empowerment through music.
As I continue to write my way out of the shadows of self-doubt, I hope to inspire others to embrace their own vulnerabilities. To remind them that within the depths of their fears lie the seeds of authenticity and connection. Through my music, I strive to create a safe space where listeners can find peace, validation, and the courage to embark on their own transformative journeys.
