The brooding dance floor-filler is the latest taste of The Kite String Tangle’s upcoming project Lustre.
The Kite String Tangle has today (August 25) released Miles Away, the latest single to be lifted from his forthcoming third studio album Lustre.
At once driving and proggy, the single offers a unique take on house music, as punctuated by The Kite String Tangle’s ascendent vocals.
The track marks a new direction for The Kite String Tangle — known offstage as Danny Harley — while still pay homage to the pulsating and euphoric electronica that has now become his wheelhouse.
Miles Away sees Harely open up on feelings of dissociation during overwhelming times, amplified by what he calls the “unnerving feel [that] shines through” the track’s production.
He continued in a press statement: “In terms of the production this was one of the first track that I wrote that felt like it would dictate what the rest of the album would sound like and ushered in a more dance focused vibe for many of the other tracks.”
Miles Away is our fourth taste of Lustre, Harley’s much-anticipated full-length project set for release on October 6. Alongside the just-released dancefloor filler, the 12-song tracklist will also include previous singles Fist Fight, Euclidean, Good Catch and A New Day.
“It’s probably the happiest I’ve ever been with a record,” Harley said in a press statement. “I feel like it’s more cohesive, there’s themes of positivity and change, which have been for the greater good.”
The release of Miles Away coincides with the announcement of a The Kite String Tangle tour later this year. The multi-hyphenate musician will begin his run of shows this September and November, with performances slated for Brisbane Festival at The Powerhouse, headline stops at Sydney’s Oxford Arts Factory, and a DJ set at Adelaide’s Cry Baby Festival.
