Lowtide + Alpine Decline + Orange

Yep. Lowtide are on here again. Apologies if you’re getting sick of hearing about them so much, but I simply love this band. This Saturday, head down to Yah Yah’s to catch the dreamy four piece strut their stuff with some awesome supports – namely post-industrial ambienteers Orange and Chinese psychedelic experimenters Alpine Decline.

Orange make abrasive, feedback driven tunes that defy traditional notions of rhythm, melody and songwriting in general – also they have a song called Abbott and his Facist Scumbags. While Happy doesn’t attempt to impart any political views on its readers, I think it’s safe to say most of our readers will agree with Orange’s anti-establishment ethos in this instance.

Alpine Decline on the other hand are the proud owners of the coolest website ever. It’s as mesmerising and hypnotic as their shoegazing sound. Check out this quote from their press release:

Guitar tones glow like neons bubbling through the proud industrial shadow clouds; they layer and loop like the city’s own Möbius boulevard of creative destruction. Drums are smashed out of rhythm with the Beijing clang, following a parallel time of Outer Ring Road modulation.

If the prospect of heavy Chinese guitar music influenced by the smoggy cityscapes of contemporary Beijing doesn’t excite you, then I dunno what will. My urban geography boner can only get so erect.

And, y’know, Lowtide are Lowtide. Tix are a big fat $0, bands start at 9pm and as always Yah Yahs will be open till 5am.
