Lucky Tran creates a brand of music that’s incredibly difficult to pin down. In a short amount of time, the Snowy Mountains based artist has developed a sound that feels simultaneously familiar and fresh; it’s grounded in R&B, but stretches into far more experimental and exciting sonic territories.
With the release of his new album Typical State Of Mine, he continues to establish his penchant for crafting immersive and wholly original gems of sound. If you’re not already across this artist, we strongly recommend you change that.
On his new album Typical State Of Mine, Snowy Mountains-based artist Lucky Tran delivers a slice of genre-bending brilliance.
Throughout the new record, Lucky Tran glides through a truly hypnotic blend of R&B, hip-hop, electronica, and pop to craft something uniquely his own. With slick, dynamic production and effortless lyrical flow, he maneuvers easily through different genres, and the result is something completely spell-binding.
Over the course of its seven-track duration, the album expands and contracts—it never sits in one place for too long. Album opener Addictions immediately establishes the far-reaching musical vision of the album, while maintaining an emotionally resonant approach to lyricism. By the time Help Me Love Myself reaches its conclusion, you’ll be left completely mesmerised by Lucky Tran’s sprawling music.
These may still be early days for this artist, but judging the quality of everything we’ve heard so far, I think we can safely expect plenty more great tunes. In the meantime, do yourself a favour and listen to the new album above.
