In a statement he shared on Wednesday, DeMarco shared, “Hi, it’s Mac. We’re starting a record label; it’s called ‘Mac’s Record Label.’ My friend Jen who plays the drums in The Courtneys gave me the name.”

In addition to the label news, DeMarco announced he’d be getting back on the road and touring the US and Europe on his first ever solo tour, The Purple Bobcat Next to River, in August. He’s set to kick off the tour with a performance at the Tropicalia Fest in Long Beach, California.

For his European and US solo shows, DeMarco has pledged to donate a dollar of every ticket sale to local Girls Rock Camps.

Unfortunately, no Aussie tour dates have been released.

Earlier this year, Mac DeMarco graced Australian stages with a slot on the touring Laneway Festival bill, with sideshows in Sydney and Melbourne. Mac’s third full-length studio album, This Old Dogwas released in 2017 via Captured Tracks.
