Massive Attack have announced a 20th anniversary reissue of their iconic album Mezzanine, remastered for CD and vinyl and featuring never-before-released dub remixes.
Mezzanine was the third album Massive Attack put out, first released to the world on April 20th in 1998. Quickly earning platinum status in the UK and significant critical praise, it remains the band’s most successful album to date.
Massive Attack are celebrating 20 years of Mezzanine with reissues on vinyl and CD, complete with the remnants of a long-lost remix album.
The remastered special edition will be released as a 3xLP box set on orange and pink coloured vinyl in December, and additionally a 2xCD set will hit shelves in November.
The special edition will come in a box which changes when exposed to heat (see the handprint below for an example), plus a book of exclusive images from Massive Attack’s Robert Del Naja and photographer Nick Knight.
Both editions come with remixed Mezzanine tracks by Mad Professor, which apparently hail from a remix album which was never released.
