Live music lovers rejoice, because Sydney’s iconic Metro Theatre is reopening this June for the first time since the pandemic.
Despite COVID forcing venues across the country to hunker down for the pandemic, the Metro Theatre is back up and running, with a whole bunch of live sets in the works to get your grubby little mitts on.
Located on George Street in the heart of Sydney’s CBD, the Metro will kick off celebrations with a 7 Day Weekend series in partnership with the larger Sydney Solstice festival program.
The series will be headlined by Melbourne icons, Camp Cope, who will be performing on Wednesday, 16th June. It’s their first Sydney headline show in over three years, the last being their spot at Metro as part of their 2018 tour. Supporting acts will also include Sydney’s own Coconut Cream, the first band signed to former Gang of Youths guitarist, Joji Malani’s new label, Broth Records.
However, throughout the week, the Metro will be hosting a lineup of smashing Aussie acts, including Thy Art Is Murder on Thursday June 10th, followed by British India on Friday June 11th, and Eves Karydas on Saturday the 12th.
Tickets for the 7 Day Weekend series are on sale here, so snatch them up quickly while they’re still fresh!
As June is the global celebration of Pride Month, the Metro will also host a special edition of Sydney’s LGBTQIA+ showcase series, Express Yourself, headlined by none other than Alex the Astronaut. Express Yourself will also feature star-studded acts including BVT, Hope D, NIK NAVY, and No Frills Twins, so say “gay rights” and grab your tickets here.
