Ocean Alley’s picks for the best bands in Australia right now

Your boys Ocean Alley have had a big 2015. Their latest EP In Purple released last Spring was nothing short of dynamite, which earned the band plenty of praise. Armed with reggae inspired grooves and fuzzed out riffs, the Sydney five-piece have made easy work charming the pants off the critics. Whether it be the tricky Space Goat, the blissed out Daydreaming or the rousing lead single Muddy Water, the ;ads have a cracker of an EP on their hands and it’s gonna be a blast when they hit the road with The Ruminaters in tow for what will no doubt be a sweet ass Summer tour. Seeing as how they’re touring with one of the best, hard-working bands in the country, we asked Ocean Alley who else they thought to be some of the best to wear the baggy green and they happily obliged.

Ocean Alley summer tour

Woozy Sydney six-piece Ocean Alley had an impressive 2015 with the release of In Purple. Ahead of their Summer tour the boys pick the bands they rate as the best to call Australia home.

The Ruminaters

Love the spooky surf rock sound and their stage presence always keeps the vibes high.

Doctor Goddard

Digging the music these guys have been playing especially the Jim Morrison style vocal feels.

King Colour

Really liked the style of music these lads come up with. Warm guitar tones topped off with swaying surf rock vibes…dig it.

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard

The Gizz never disappoint. Always switching it up and keeping it interesting. Very versatile band with awesome music.

Crepes

Good vibes & good music. Keen to hear the next spill of tunes from theses dudes.

Moses Gunn Collective

Loving the heavy psych sounds these guys have been making. The fuzz/phaser combo gets me every time, like coffee and garlic bread.
