SNL is set to wrap up 2023 with performances by Billie Eilish and Olivia Rodrigo

Olivia Rodrigo and Billie Eilish set to rock Saturday Night Live’s December lineup with hits

NBC has announced that Olivia Rodrigo and Billie Eilish will be the musical guests of Saturday Night Live for its last two episodes of 2023, performing on the ninth and sixteenth of December and respectively. Both pop superstars are returning guests to the late-night programme.

Having both occurred in May 2021, Olivia Rodrigo’s SNL debut mirrored the release of her full-length debut Sour. With singles “Driver’s License” and “Good 4 U”, Sour spawned some of the biggest hits of the decade so far and was one of the year’s most acclaimed pop albums.

This September, Rodrigo released its much-anticipated follow-up Guts, also heralded by the global chart-topper “Vampire” as its lead single. The album has earned her six nominations at the upcoming Grammy awards, including Album of the Year and Record of the Year for “Vampire”. Beyond performing on Saturday Night Live, Olivia Rodrigo will be spilling her Guts for fans on either side of the Atlantic throughout her 2024 world tour.

The December ninth episode will be hosted by Adam Driver, who stars as Enzo Ferrari in the forthcoming motion picture Ferrari, which is slated for Australian wide release on the fourth of January.

Gracing the stage of Studio 8H for a third time, streaming-era icon Billie Eilish will be the musical guest for host Kate McKinnon, who recently played a stand-out role in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie. The film features Billie Eilish on its star-studded soundtrack, providing the album with its thematic centrepiece “What Was I Made For?”. The song has earned Eilish five Grammy nominations, including for Record of the Year and Best Music Video.

Billie Eilish made her first appearance on SNL to promote her seminal debut album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? in 2019. Her sophomore effort Happier Than Ever brought with its release a second stint on the show in 2021, for which Eilish was both its musical guest and host.

December sixteenth will see Kate McKinnon host SNL for the first time in her career, having been a cast member from 2012 to 2022.
