PREMIERE: Babaganouj do you right with Do Rite With Me Tonite

As a fully grown, heterosexual man I have no reservations in admitting there are two times I’ve felt genuinely attracted to another man. The first was to Cary Elwes in The Princess Bride (so dreamy, yet so rougish!) The second was to Heath Ledger in 10 Things I Hate About You. It’s a scientific fact that every five minutes someone swoons uncontrollably when he flashes his devil may care grin in that movie.

That is if you’re not rocking out to the brilliant soundtrack that accompanies it. The Cardigans, Sister Hazel, Save Ferris, Babaganouj… wait, they weren’t on that? Hell, listening to their single Do Rite With Me Tonite you would definitely feel otherwise.

DO Rite with me tonite

Old mates Babaganouj have returned to the fold with their brilliant new single Do Rite With Me Tonite. 90’s teen drama to the max.

It’s been a little while since we heard new music from The ‘Nouj. The Brissie four piece made quite an impression back in 2014 with their cracking singles Too Late For Love and Bluff. They’ve been busy playing plenty of healdine shows, supporting shows and a festival here and there. The band took the stage at Blurst of Times, not to mention were amongst one of the many awesome bands at last year’s BIGSOUND and were finalists in Qmusic’s Billy Thorpe scholarship.

Phew, these four have been busy. Considering it’s been some time between drinks Babaganouj aren’t fucking around when they serve up an ice cold schooner of infectious power-pop in the form of Do Rite With Me Tonite. To put it simply it’s a seductive toe tapper punctuated by sweet boy/ girl dual vocals.

Listening to Do Rite With Me Tonite it feels very at home on the 10 Things I Hate About You soundtrack. Really, there could easily be a scene where Julia Stiles is cruising in her beat up car with this bad boy blaring over the bubblegum pop of the car in the next lane. From the spelling of the title through to the tales of regret and remorse, The Nouj’ have served up a tune that appeals to the heart in a mature way.

The band are touring with their mates Palms in March, ahead of a 2016 that will see them release three (that’s 3) EP’s. If you’re loving the sounds that are flowing from Do Rite With Me Tonite then you’ll have good reason to look forward to the next few months. 2016 is going to be the year of Babaganouj!
