We’ve all been there… that worthless period after a break-up when everything is shit and you’re overcome by an inescapable feeling of loneliness.
In their new video for Hearts, Melbourne three-piece Bad Bangs navigate these times – not overtly depicting this feeling of despair, but rather the mundane routines and activities we undertake in an attempt to avoid it.
Featuring an all-female cast, Hearts follows four separate characters and explores their individual ways of coping; ranging from grocery shopping to jogging, or attending the movies alone.
Bad Bangs’ new video for Hearts is a breakup song for those who are quiet on the outside; keeping it together while emotions run wild.
Throughout the video, each character encounters zero social interaction – swathing the video in themes of isolation. The song itself is a scuzzy and vividly empathetic piece of garage-rock that feels like walking a tightrope; a balance between heartbreak and moving forward.
Bad Bangs are made up of Shelby De Fazio on vocals and guitar, Ben Leahy on bass, and Monica Ireland on drums.
“I swear I’ll never feel the same/I’m so sick of these games,” De Fazio sings. The song always maintains a feeling of keeping-it-together, while something far more emotive boils beneath.
Bad Bangs navigate these times in a way that’s relatable and empathetic on Hearts – it makes for a truly endearing listen. Make sure you check out the video above, and suss out live dates below:
